Colon hydrotherapy gently massages and flushes the colon with water. Colon hydrotherapy is also a form of internal colon and abdominal massage which helps to release tension and stress from the tummy region with direct correlation to the organs and connective tissues, or fascia. Colon hydrotherapy directly supports the hydration of built up material in the colon, often referred to as mucoid plaque, or hardened mucous, as well as the hydration of the entire body as the colon is what recycles water back into the body prior to elimination. Colon hydrotherapy, also referred to as colonics, a colonic, high colonic, colon irrigation, colonic irrigation, or high colonic irrigation is a therapy that has been around for over 2000 years (some would argue over 3000 years). Colonics, as a tool, has been used in helping people detoxify and cleanse their livers, gall bladders, intestines, lymph systems, and for full body cleansing and detoxification as a yearly or seasonal practice. Many people support their health and general well being by integrating colonics with special cleansing diets and detoxification and parasite elimination programs using primarily raw food diets, fasting, juice fasts, special detox or elimination herbs, green food powders, herbal fiber blends, or supplements that simply help to open your major pathway elimination. Common ailments or issues that people address with colon hydrotherapy is gas, flatulence, bloating, bloated feelings, constipation, colitis, crohn's or crohns disease, ibs or irritable bowel syndrome, acid reflux disease, cancer, diverticulitis (diverticular, diverticula, diverticulas, diverticular, or diverticulosis as it can be referred to and often misspelled ? thus we include the misspellings here for people), parasites, parasitic infestations, yeast, yeast infections, candida, candidiasis, Backaches or a backache, headaches or a head ache, bad breath, coated tongues, arthritis, indigestion, sinus or lung conditions, skin problems, acne, psoriasis, cystic acne, hair loss, poor concentration, depression, anxiety, stress, fatigue, weight loss or overweight, weight gain or underweight, sluggish bowel or bowels, bacteria imbalance in intestines, post surgery or abdominal trauma or simply to reconnect to their gut instinct through becoming more aware of, and more sensitive to, what their body is communication to them. Colon hydrotherapy is considered an integrative therapy that goes very well with massage, chiropractic work, cranial sacral, soma, heller work, mayan abdominal massage, chi nei tsang, colonoscopies or colonoscopy, pilates, palates, yoga, meditation, retreats, chi gong, tai chi, martial arts, karate, aikido, tai kuan do, metal detox or detoxification through dental work removing mercury filling or chelation therapy, chelating therapy, reflexology, lymph drainage, structural and functional bodywork like feldenkrais, and iridology. Colonics or a colonic is considered both traditional, due to its longevity in the medical profession as well as alternative health care. Its origin begins with the of plants as a conduit to introduce water into the colon, then to enemas and now colonic irrigation, or colon hydrotherapy. It is considered essential for those wishing to detox or cleanse the body as the colon must be kept functioning and open for elimination as one of the major pathways for toxin or toxic eliminations. The same is true for parasite, parasitic or parasites being eliminated from the large intestines or small intestines. The Tummy Temple also focuses on nutrition, nutritional counseling, diet, dieting, weight loss, eating disorders, fertility, pregnancy, pre natal and post natal care, pre surgery and post surgery medication detoxing and detoxification, abdominal surgery post trauma release and scar massage, fibroid massage in the abdomen. Our therapists are all either certified or licensed in their field of practice. |

Information about Diseases that Affect the Colon

Diverticulosis & Diverticulitus:
Diverticulosis: Many people have small pouches in the lining of the colon, or large intestine, that bulge outward through weak spots. Each pouch is called a diverticulum. Multiple pouches are called diverticula. The condition of having diverticula is called diverticulosis. Diverticulitis: Diverticula are most common in the lower portion of the large intestine, called the sigmoid colon. When the pouches become inflamed, the condition is called diverticulitis. Ten to 25 percent of people with diverticulosis get diverticulitis.3 Diverticulosis and diverticulitis together are called diverticular disease.

Prolapsed Colon:

Prolapse of the colon is when the colon collapse and falls down. The transverse colon is most likely to prolapse. If the colon prolapses there, it then pulls the organs above it down and causes pressure on contents of the abdomen below it. This can cause some serious complications. A prolapsed colon, also referred to as rectal prolapse, is characterized by the rectal lining protruding from the anus. The condition often occurs while having a bowel movement, due to excessive straining, though other causes exist. A prolapsed colon needs to be treated right away or chronic incontinence may develop. Although prolapse typically develops during a bowel movement, that is not actually the cause. Rather, the muscles and ligaments attached to the colon become weakened. Therefore, this tissue is more easily pushed out during a bowel movement. The muscles and ligaments holding the colon may become weakened in many different ways. Diseases of the colon or of the surrounding tissue can cause these muscles to be weakened. Furthermore, aging can make a person more susceptible to rectal prolapse.

Colitis:

Note: Most Diseases and Derangements of the Colon require Colonoscopy and/or X-rays of the Colon, which would be done through a MD (Medical Physician). If you have Insurance we recommend you have these tests done. Otherwise unless previously diagnosed or experiencing pain the protocols of therapy and products we recommend are designed to Fix and reverse these diseases and disorders of the Colon. To fix any health problems requires therapy, strict dietary changes, supplements, and sometimes strong herbal medicines.
Ulcerative colitis Ulcerative colitis causes inflammation and ulcers in the top layer of the lining of the large intestine. Ulcerative colitis, is thought to be an autoimmune illness in which the body's immune system attacks the colon and causes inflammation. Ulcerative colitis begins in the rectum and may gradually spread throughout the colon. The signs and symptoms are generally abdominal pain and bloody bowel movements. Ischemic Colitis The arteries that supply blood to the colon are like any other artery in the body. When these arteries narrow, the colon loses it's blood supply and becomes inflamed. The colon can also lose its blood supply for mechanical reasons. A couple of examples include volvulus, in which the bowel twists on itself, or an incarcerated hernia in which a portion of the colon gets stuck in an outpouching of the abdominal wall. In patients who are at risk for decreased blood flow to the colon, ischemic colitis can occur if the blood pressure falls. This may occur with dehydration, anemia, or shock. |
Colitis is a chronic digestive disease characterized by inflammation of the colon. Colitis is one of a group of conditions which are inflammatory and auto-immune, affecting the tissue that lines the gastrointestinal system (the large and small intestine). It is classed as an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), not to be confused with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Mega Colon:
Colon Cancer & Polyps:
Most people with diverticulosis do not have any discomfort or symptoms. However, some people may experience crampy pain or discomfort in the lower abdomen, bloating, and constipation. The most common symptom of diverticulitis is abdominal pain. The most common sign on examination is tenderness in the lower left side of the abdomen. Usually, the pain is severe and comes on suddenly, but it can also be mild and become worse over several days. The intensity of the pain can fluctuate. A person may experience cramping, nausea, vomiting, fever, chills, or a change in bowel habits. Although not proven, the dominant theory is that a low- fiber diet causes diverticular disease. The disease was first noticed in the United States in the early 1900s, around the time processed foods were introduced into the American diet. Consumption of processed foods greatly reduced Americans’ fiber intake.
Megacolon is an abnormal dilatation of the colon (a part of the large intestines) that is not caused by mechanical obstruction. The dilatation is often accompanied by a paralysis of the peristaltic movements of the bowel. In more extreme cases, the feces consolidate into hard masses inside the colon, called fecalomas (literally, fecal tumor), which require surgery to be removed. A human colon is considered abnormally enlarged if it has a diameter greater than 12 cm in the cecum, greater than 6.5 cm in the rectosigmoid region and greater than 8 cm for the ascending colon. A megacolon can be either acute or chronic.

If benign polyps are not removed from the large intestine, they can become malignant (cancerous) over time. Most of the cancers of the large intestine are believed to have developed from polyps. Cancer of the colon and rectum (also referred to as colorectal cancer) can invade and damage adjacent tissues and organs. Cancer cells can also break away and spread to other parts of the body (such as liver and lung) where new tumors form. The spread of colon cancer to distant organs is called metastasis of the colon cancer. Once metastasis has occurred in colorectal cancer, a complete cure of the cancer is unlikely.
Globally, cancer of the colon and rectum is the third leading cause of cancer in males and the fourth leading cause of cancer in females. The frequency of colorectal cancer varies around the world. It is common in the Western world and is rare in Asia and Africa. In countries where the people have adopted western diets, the incidence of colorectal cancer is increasing.
